I’ve done something I hadn’t done with my blog before: respond to another’s blog posting … and up to this point I haven’t written a two part blog … so here is Part II.
Having a Black President in the United States is neither a blessing or a curse … it is simply the result of a regular occurrence that happens here every 4 to 8 years (we get to pick a new one). A President, no matter who they are, cannot be a blessing or a curse simply by their being … not even Barrack Obama. It is clear to me that any President may become one or the other (a blessing or a curse). Primarily, the times mold the President … Presidents seldom mold the times. There are exceptions like George Washington and Ronald Reagan … but not many.
Mr. Obama is not a messiah (even though Louis Farrakhan said he is) and he is not the smartest man to have ever run for and held the office. If he does not wake up and right the course he’s heading down, then he will become a curse. The national debt is already a curse we’ve been handed. Nationalizing private companies is a curse and radically changing health care will be a curse. I won’t blame him alone for those things…he’s had the support of Congressional Democrats along the way (the majority of which are not Black).
In her blog, Black President: Blessing or Curse?, she accuses Caucasians of fighting the President on “every turn” and “as a matter of fact, it is every Republican in addition to Caucasians that have a problem with the way this country is currently being run”. She could not be more wrong … painting Whites with such a broad brush discounts all of them that do support the President and the Democrats wrong-headed plans. If she were to study election polls, she would even find out that “rednecks”, “uneducated”, and “ignorant” Caucasians voted for Mr. Obama in high numbers. How arrogant!
The writer and President Obama himself have complained that he inherited an economy in crisis, with overwhelming debt, and huge deficits. Last I heard, Mr. Obama was a sitting Senator and a member of the majority party controlling Congress when the budgets, the bailouts, and the failed stimulus packages were passed … he voted in favor of them all. That (to my mind) means that he not only did not inherit those problems he helped create them and the circumstances that lead to them.
It is disheartening when we hear of this kind of dribble coming from an educated American of any race or ethnicity. She helps reinforce the position Rush Limbaugh has taken on his radio program: that President Obama’s supporters will use race as a battering ram on anyone that opposes his and the Democrats’ policies or that points out their shortcomings and failures. Rush is right … and her blog proves it. That in itself should cause her to do some rethinking. Hopefully, she will discover that she lives in the greatest country on earth for anyone Red, Black, Brown, Yellow, or White to live in and pursue happiness.
There you have it.

Black President: Blessing or Curse
I’m having trouble with something … a friend sent me a blog link that I found disturbing: a blog titled Black President: Blessing or Curse?. The writer (a woman of African-American descent) made this statement, “we have finally reached the pinnacle of historic events to where a blatant racist society has finally opted to elect a black president”. I don’t agree with her. A blatant racist society would never, never elect a President of a different race…ever! Why would it? … that should be blatantly clear to anyone. But, alas, we are not a blatant racist society or country … or perhaps she doesn’t know the meaning of the word. I’ve read and re-read her blog, but I have not found the blessing part of having Mr. Obama as President in it (maybe she’s still working on that … or waiting for some blessings to occur).
According to my friend, the lady is very nice, well educated, and is pursuing her doctoral degree on a full scholarship. (Now would a blatant racist society really allow that?) I don’t support President Obama … does that make me a racist? No, it doesn’t. I don’t support him on the issues. I also think he has a poor decision making ability and is a terrible judge of character … but most of all, I don’t align with his political philosophy. I wonder what her stance would be if our President were J.C. Watts or Allen Keyes (the man that ran against Obama for U.S. Senate) or even Colin Powell? Heaven forbid a person of Black or Hispanic descent should be a Republican or (greater still) conservative. I think what would happen is exactly what we saw happen to Sarah Palin. She did not receive support from women’s groups or hard line feminists because she did not fit their ideal of a feminist. President Obama does not fit my ideal of a U.S. president.
She made this reference contrasting President Obama vs. President Bush by stating that Bush “allowed for Katrina victims to wallow in their own vomit, feces and urine as if we were still on slave ships. Do you think President Obama would stand by and let his people suffer in a state of emergency of that magnitude if it were to occur now?” I’m not sure what she means by “his people” … I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she means Americans in general. She must have forgotten that Whites, Hispanics, and elderly people were left behind as well. Doesn’t Ray Nagin share some responsibility for not successfully evacuating the city before hand? … or how about Governor Blanco’s inaction? … nope – it’s all Bush’s fault. If given the opportunity, all I would say to her is what General Honore said at the time: “don’t get stuck on stupid.”
She talks about hateful cartoons of President Obama and of assassination attempts. Mr. Bush had plenty of those … there was even a movie made about assassinating him. I found her position off-base and out of step with where we are today as a nation. I don’t think that she has a good foundation to build an argument on. She is entitled to her opinion (however wrong I think it may be), but I’m not sure I’d be the only one that thinks she’s wrong. I’ve included a link to her blog at the end of this posting so that you can read it (if only to find out what some people are thinking). Sadly, I’m sure there are more out there like her.
There you have it.
Pass it along if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue.

The War On Christmas
The war on Christmas is alive and well. Even though we do not see merry x-mas signs every where in stores and shopping centers anymore, the war is on. In some places it is subtle while in others it is outright and disrespectful. It is alive and well in government, our public schools and colleges, as well as with social liberals, atheists, and agnostics.
What brings this up, you might ask? A friend of mine received a call at work one morning from his son at school (I’m leaving out his name even though he said I could use it here) … his son called to ask his Dad if he could watch a movie. Surprised by the question, he asked his son why he was calling him for permission, and just what movie was it that required a call. Actually it was three movies … he needed his permission to watch.....now hold your breath…the Christmas Story, A Christmas Carol , and worst of all…….How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Horrible isn’t it? … at least it wasn’t The Exorcist, JAWS, or Debbie Does Dallas! Astonished by the question and answers he received from his son (and after giving his son’s teacher the go-ahead on the movies), he hung up the phone, looked over at us and said, “I don’t know if I should laugh at this stupid call or get pissed off”.
Well, needless to say, that telephone call reinforced my view that the war on Christmas is alive and well here in the United States. I thought it was more prevalent in Northeastern states or California … or in places known to be more progressive … but it’s not. This happened in South Texas and it is shocking to me. I hate to make all things political (even though I write this blog for that reason), but I’ll ask you to ask yourself; who is it that brings on these moronic movements? Is it Democrats or Republicans? Be honest… it is not Republicans … it is by Democrats, liberals, communist, and those on the left.
I know that there is not solely a war on Christmas, it is actually a much broader war to marginalize Christians and Christianity in our country. We have a President that recently said to an international body (and in front of Muslins) that we are no longer a Christian country, but a country of laws. How does that differentiate the United States from other lesser nations? … after all, every nation can proclaim they are a nation of laws. Iran, China, North Korea, Pakistan, and Mexico can make that claim. Never mind that in every village, town, city, county and state you will find a Christian church of one denomination or another. Often there are churches next to churches. Catholic churches are near Baptist churches, Methodist churches are near Lutheran churches. Guess what happens after services are over at these churches? … they do not come out shooting. No, they lunch together, work together, play together and best of all govern together … so how can Mr. Obama claim that we are not a Christians nation. What we are is a Christian nation that is not just for Christians … anyone can be an American.
Over 80% of Americans claim they are Christian. This is far greater than the 52-53% that put Mr. Obama into office … and yet he claims we are not a Christian nation any more. Exactly what country does he think he lives in? … the United States or the United Emirates? I’ll bet some of that 52-53% disagree that we are no longer a Christian nation.
So why the battle over Christmas? Is it because at Christmas time Christians hi-jack planes to fly them into buildings, or is it that we run around dancing wildly killing, burning, and beheading nonbelievers in the streets, or is it because we stand in the way of fundamental change? A funny thing happens in wars….the attacked will fight back.
Christmas time in America has always been a happy time of year. It comes in winter when spirits need lifting. It comes for the faithful and nonbelievers alike … that is the wonder of Christmas, that is because of the wonderfulness of Christ.
There you have it.

A Call To Arms
Even though there is not large popular support for greater government involvement in healthcare, the Democrats are marching on toward it. Stop and think for a moment … we’ve seen rally after rally and town hall meeting after town hall meeting against government healthcare. The Tea Party movement picked up steam because the Democrats and President Obama are forcing the issue onto Americans. What we haven’t seen are rallies and meetings in support of it. I have been to a Tea Party and I know people that have been to Tea Parties … while most of the attendees do not support Democrats or did not vote for Mr. Obama, a lot of them did vote for Mr. Obama … and they say this is not the change they anticipated from Obama and the Democrats.
Democrats lay claim to championing the needs of the poor and minorities. Currently there is a large minority of Republicans, and Independents on Capital Hill that do not support government run healthcare. We do not see large minority groups or poor people holding marches and rallies supporting goverment healthcare anywhere in the streets of our cities and towns ... what we do see is a ruling class forcing their will … a will that will bankrupt the country and restrict healthcare - not expand it. The Democrats are tyrants and bullies … they believe that only they have the correct answers to our problems … yet it has been mostly Democratic policies approved by Congress for the last 80 years that brings us to this chapter in our history. We cannot be fooled into believing that the last eight years under George W. Bush got us here … if you and I were to buy that, then we would have to believe that the American revolution was fought for selfish reasons and not to remove tyrannical British oppression from the colonies.
We have to understand that the Democrats in Washington DC are in fact tyrants, I’ve heard it called soft tyranny. Mark Levin (talk radio host, attorney, and author) in his best selling book Liberty and Tyranny states: “The modern Liberal believes in the supremacy of the state, thereby rejecting the principles of the Declaration and the order of the civil society, in whole or part. For the Modern Liberal, the individual’s imperfection and personal pursuits impede the objective of a utopian state. In this, Modern Liberalism promotes what French historian Alexis de Tocqueville described as a soft tyranny, which becomes increasingly more oppressive, potentially leading to a hard tyranny (some form of totalitarianism). As the word ‘liberal’ is, in its classical meaning, the opposite of authoritarian, it is more accurate, therefore, to characterize the Modern Liberal as a Statist.” I believe Mark Levin is correct. Thomas Jefferson said “when the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people there is liberty.” I’ll ask you whom should we fear? The Democrats that are forcing their will onto us with a narrow majority … or normal everyday Americans that want a responsible government that is accountable to us, we the people.
Our government has saddled the country with a suffocating debt that is unsustainable. Thomas Paine wrote in his pamphlet Common Sense “extending millions for the sake of getting a few vile acts repealed.... is unworthy the charge, and is using posterity with the utmost cruelty; because it is leaving them the great work to do, and a debt upon their backs, from which they derive no advantage.” It is cruel to acquire debt and expect others to pay for it … only a tyrant would do such a thing (in our case it is a ruling party of tyrants). The bailouts have not bailed us out, the promised stimulus has not occurred. How arrogant it is for our President to give himself a B- grade and at the same time call the bankers he worked to bail out Fat Cats when he is feeding them! Government borrowed money to save powerful influential forces at the expense of the nation.
Are we headed to a Dictatorship of the proletariat that Marxist believe must come before communism can take root? Read the works of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao. Take time to find and read The Communist Manifesto (it is easily found on the internet) … it may as well have been written by Howard Dean. There is only one problem with a dictatorship of the proletariat taking place…you have to have a proletariat! {Proletariat: The class of industrial wage earners who, possessing neither capital nor production means, must earn their living by selling their labor.}
We do not have a proletariat class as described by Marx. In fact, Russia and China did not have a large industrial class of workers when their communist revolutions took place. No matter what the Democrats and Liberals have to say in our modern day United States, we do not have any large oppressed classes of people. I am not saying that there are no unhappy Americans … we all know that is not the case. However, let us not forget that all Americans are free and may possess property and capital and participate as much or as little in the free-market and government as they choose.
We are currently being railroaded by Statist in the likes of Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders, on a pathway to hardship. What do all of them have in common? … they are Democrats and only one of them has the honesty to proclaim himself a Socialist. Republicans are not blameless; however, it appears that they have seen the danger of the Statist and have decided to be obstructionist at a time when we need them to be.
Thomas Jefferson said “a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing” … and at times like these, a necessary thing. This is my call to arms. Not in armed conflict with fellow Americans, but an engagement, armed in truth and honest information. We must re-educate Americans on our Constitution, and the reasons why there is a United States. We must show them the blessing of liberty we have received from having freedom of religion as well as from free-market capitalism. We must show reluctant Democrats the failure of their leaderships ways and that it is time for them to abandon ship and save the United Stated from unnecessary harm.
There you have it.

Eric Holder Must Go
The Attorney General is not elected, he does not serve by the will of the people he serves at the will of the President. However, we cannot only blame the President for appointing him to office…we must hold the Senate accountable as well. Both sides of the Upper House of Congress approved him; therefore, Republicans share as much of the blame as Obama does … including the two close friends: Senator John McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham … is it any wonder why John McCain is not now President McCain?
Mr. Holder may be an even worse Attorney General than Janet Reno. Remember her? Does anyone care about her or where she is now? Of course not - she was that bad. Mr. Holder was Deputy Attorney General under Janet Reno, he worked for and obtained pardons for Puerto Rican FALN bomb making, murdering terrorist of the 1970’s, in spite of objections by the Justice Department not to. He helped with the Mark Rich pardon, a tax cheat and fraud broker that also traded with Iran during the Hostage Crisis. Mark Rich is a traitor. These are bad people and he helped pardon them. Mr. Holder has stopped action against the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation tactics in Philadelphia. He is going to bring Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) to New York City for trial … a trial he could well lose, and one that will put the people of New York City in peril. He wants to investigate the former President and Vice President, as well as the CIA for criminal charges relating to terrorist interrogation. Why?
Exactly whose side is Mr. Holder on? He works for President Obama, so I must assume the things he has done and is doing now meet with the President’s approval. Recent news stories indicated that Mr. Holder did not consult with security officials before making his decision to bring the KSM trial to New York. Why would he do such a thing … and why would Mr. Obama allow it? These men are dangerous. Will Americans have to be killed here at home again before men like Holder and Obama are held to task?
Eric Holder is a threat to the safety and security of us all. He has worked to release killers and thugs for political purposes and takes sight on those that are sworn to protect us for that same reason .. in doing so, we are left unsafe. Why would any agent with the CIA, the FBI, or Homeland Security trust the Department of Justice with him in charge? … I wouldn’t. Put yourself in their shoes … how comfortable would you be with an Attorney General who has worked actively and enthusiastly to pardon murdering terrorist and traitors and who has also worked equally as hard to punish people who work to protect us from harm? With him in charge, there is always the threat of prosecution for protecting you and me.
President Obama and Mr. Holder are forcing inefficiency into the security apparatus and military components that protect us. They cannot effectively protect us if they fear being fired or charged with a crime for doing their job. I’m sure there will be times when an action will not be taken out of indecision or from frustration with the current administration. I think that is what happened in Fort Hood and that is why Navy SEALs are being court-martialed now. That is not good for America. Eric Holder must go … before he strikes again.

I Turned 28 For The Twentieth Time
I turned 48 years old on December 2nd. What a birthday I had. First I wake up and find a birthday card from Lisa (my wife) and a copy of Sarah Palin’s new book waiting for me by the coffee pot. Then, Emily (my little girl) gave me a great hand made birthday card that was lovingly thought out. Next, I got to go to the Get Motivated seminar courtesy of my employer. Lastly, I stopped by Will Hurd’s home for a campaign session with other supporters. Not a bad birthday, I’d say.
I’ve been to a few motivational seminars over the years and have found them to be overrated, but not the Get Motivated seminar … it was GREAT … the absolute best I’ve ever been too. I saw a side of General Colin Powel that I did not know existed … he was funny, informative, and he even poked fun at himself. Terry Bradshaw killed us … he was funnier than on TV. But I must say that being in the same place with President George W. Bush was an honor and a privilege I will never forget. I have to admit, I got a little choked up (he is the only President I have ever admitted loving).
There you have it, I loved President Bush (still do) and I think history will treat him well in spite of the economic evens that happened at the end of his second term. How refreshing it was to see him again. He spoke for about a half hour, not from a teleprompter but from the heart, alone on stage with a microphone in his hand and a smile on his face. He talked about prayer. He said when he was young he did not put much weight into prayer, but as he matured he turned to prayer. He said that although he could not prove it, he believes it was the prayers form the American people that helped sustain him. He talked about his father’s unconditional love for him and how we as fathers need to love our children unconditionally. He told us that, in spite of how things appear today, the United Stated is still the greatest country on earth and that we are the most blessed country the world has ever known. He told us that Americans can still pursue there dreams and achieve them, more so than in any country, and that government will not make them come true … we just have to do the work to accomplish them. Government has a role, but it needs to be limited and unintrusive. What a difference he is from President Obama.
Mr. Obama believes that government has the answers to all our troubles, yet it carries most of the blame for the mess that we are in. Mr. Bush credits the U.S. for making the world a safer better place. Mr. Obama apologizes to the world and begs for forgiveness for making it safer. Mr. Bush worked with Democrats. Mr. Obama leaves out the Republicans. Mr. Bush took part in every national day of prayer … Mr. Obama, this year, did not. Mr. Bush acknowledged the faith Americans have in God and his personal faith in Jesus when he was in office. Mr. Obama says we are not a Christina nation but merely a nation of laws and does not honor Jesus now that he is the President. Mr. Bush kept terrorist captive in Guantanamo Bay. Mr. Obama thinks it is a good idea to bring the worst of them to New York City and endanger the Hudson Bay.
Will Hurd, whom I am supporting for Congress and have offered to do volunteer work for, is the same kind of American as President Bush and I. Will believes in the country just as much (if not more) than I do. After all, he’s served the country in the CIA and now is ready to serve in the U. S. Congress if elected. I love our country, but have never served it. Will speaks from the heart … I have yet seen him use prepared text when he speaks before a gathering. I have been ridiculed for being a conservative and supporting Republicans for years by other Hispanics, and I’m sure Will gets some of the same treatment from other African-Americans for the same reason. Yet I believe the reason Republicans are appealing to us is because we have not allowed ourselves to be mislead by the false promises and failed policies Democrats have been behind. I also believe that culturally, the Republicans (especially conservatives) more closely hold and encourage the same values that Blacks and Hispanics have always held dear. From our love of family, belief in marriage, and faith in God, to our commitment for a better future for our children and grandchildren. The Democrats often scoff at these core values or, at minimum, refer to them as old fashion … I don’t think they’re old fashion, and I take it personally when they are scoffed at. It was nice to be with others willing to lend him a hand with his campaign on my birthday.
I left the seminar with renewed faith in our country … not just from what the former President said, but from all of the speakers. It was the most pro-American, pro-faith event I have been to (including the Tea Party in front of the Alamo). It helps to know that my conservative point of view is in line with such great Americans. We should not be ashamed of our country or of our faith in God. It was even more encouraging to me to see that the thousands that were there in attendance felt the same way. I did not hear one moan, or groan, or even a sigh from anyone around me. Surely we were not all conservatives. Large sections were sent by there employers just as I was, and yet there seemed to be a harmony of thought and agreement in the air. It was an over all uplifting experience. Like I said in the beginning…what a birthday I had.
There you have it.
Pass it along if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue.

Navy SEALS Charged for Scaring Terrorist
Have you heard about this? … three U. S. Navy SEALs are being charged with assault for punching a terrorist they captured. If you think I’m joking, guess again. This is chilling. If I were serving in the military today, I would not be looking to re-enlisting. If you’ve read my blog entry “What Are We Doing In Afghanistan”, you will recall the Navy SEALs that were killed because they were aware that the media could make them out to be the bad guys instead of the enemy. That awareness cost them their lives (but not their honor or reputations).
Now we hear that three SEALs are being charged with assaulting the mastermind of the Fallujah bridge atrocity where Americans working for Blackwater security were murdered, burned and hung for display. According to FOX News, the murderer was handed over to Iraqi authorities to whom he made the complaint. This statement from the FOX News story is very telling: “The military is sensitive to charges of detainee abuse highlighted in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. The Navy charged four SEALs with abuse in 2004 in connection with detainee treatment.” Should we be so sensitive as to care how murdering terrorist are treated? … I don’t think that the terrorist cared about our public opinion when the Americans they captured were murdered, burned, and be-headed.
Do you know what the abuse was at the Abu Ghraib prison? … to put it simply we were mean and scary to terrorist … we didn’t even water board them. I bet you thought maybe we burned, tortured and be-headed them … no we did not. But now, because these SEALs were mean, they are having exactly what the deceased SEALs feared would happen to them … persecution from their own … not from the media in this instance (although it won’t be long until this is the case), but from the military.
What should we expect when we’ve just heard that the investigation of the Fort Hood massacre has been stopped. Why? … I guess it is because the bad guy was one of our own … we killed two birds with one stone. He had to be a bad guy because he was in the American military and a killer … never mind that he is an Islamic terrorist. Why can’t we dig more into it? We are being told to believe the cock-eyed story that he worked alone … I haven’t bought into that.
I believe that hanging our own is unacceptable. Why would any Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airman have confidence in their chain of command or leadership when they hear of acts like this? … it is a treason of sorts. It shows a fear of the enemy and (even though they are not stronger or more courageous than our warriors) that they can still win. Actions like these are perceived as weak and cowardly and causes them to think that they have the upper hand. It gives them a voice that could not be obtained on their own. They can say, “look at the Americans, even their leaders know that they are criminals”.
I am no expert on military or international relations (and in all honesty I don’t care what Islamic extremist think of our treatment of detainees). I believe that we should do things that make sense to the American people, as well as the parents, spouses, and children of our military personnel. We should show that we support our men and women in uniform and that we stand by them above all others … not just on the field of battle, but in the media and in the courts. Our warriors should feel safe from their command leadership and on their bases. We should not stand to let these three SEALs to be made a politically correct example. They should never again be left in danger due to political correctness, whether it’s from a soldier turned traitor on base or from their command leadership. Charging the SEALs will unleash a dangerous ripple effect through out the military. It will cause our soldiers to hesitate and second guess themselves just … as the SEALs that were ambushed in Afghanistan did (now they are dead).
There you have it.

Left Wing Confusion
I got into a political exchange on Facebook a couple of days ago. I stated that I would rather be on the right and correct than on the left and confused. This exchange really got me thinking … one should be able to back-up a statement (or point of view) like that with a good argument.
Confusion, to my mind, is an uncertainty of thought, or a inability to understand something clearly. I used same sex marriage in my Facebook exchange as one example of left-wing confusion. Most societies (including ours) have understood marriage as being between one man and one woman. This concept should not have to be explained to anyone … that is, unless your are confused. Marriage (in western culture) has not needed to be explained or defended as anything other than one man and one woman. We don’t have to debate what the definition of is … is. Gay marriage is being forced onto the majority of Americans … not by the will of the people, but by the will of a small number of left-wing judges.
I also believe (just as our founding fathers did) that our rights come from God, not from government … American history is clear on that. Our forefathers used terms such as “divine providence” and “endowed by our creator” in reference to God … not mother earth, the universe, a monarch, or (least of all) government. The left has confused that notion to such an extent that many Americans have become inclined to conceal their faith in God to avoid ridicule.
Currently the left is confused as to who’s the bad guys and who’s the good guys. They attack our military and intelligence agencies as being brutal and thuggish, yet fail to recognize that our enemy is brutal, thuggish, cruel and uses terrorism to kill us. Even though they attack with an effort to kill anyone and as many as possible, we fight them with a concentrated effort to avoid as much unnecessary killing as possible. The left forgets that the best way to fight fire is with fire. It puts us all in danger to confuse the good guys from the bad guys.
Our left-wing President and his Attorney General have decided to put Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind of 9-11 and the highest ranking terrorist we have captured , on trial in New York City. If putting him to trial on our soil is such a great idea, why not try him in Washington D.C? Why not? … because they are confused, not stupid. The President and Attorney general have so confused their responsibilities to the American people and the citizens of New York from their personal ideals that they cannot see the danger in their actions. Having KSM in New York and not expecting something bad to happens is like putting Bonnie & Clyde in a bank and not expecting it to get robbed. Foolishness!
New York is as much a target for additional terrorism today as it was on 9/11 … with KSM in town it will only become more so. It is not hard to imagine a homicide bomber making his way to the building and setting off a bomb … he wouldn’t even have to make it inside. Or how about Al Qaeda setting off a dirty bomb in Manhattan or some lone sleeper cell like Major Hasan “losing it” at just the right time. There is no room for left wing confusion in matters of security.
Left wing confusion has been costly to our national culture and security. They often resort to accusation when they cannot effectively defend a position. They say that they are for freedom of choice and that those on the right are not. They say they are for letting people be people and that they do not want someone else’s morality imposed on them. I think it is more correct to say that those on the left are the ones trying to impose their version of morality (or immorality) and government onto the rest of us … and it is them that are intolerant, closed-minded and arrogant.
There you have it.
Pass it on if you like or let me know if I dont have a clue.

The Trouble with Peace Loving Muslims
The trouble with peace loving Muslims is that they have let hate piddling Muslims define their religion for the rest of us. The treasonous attack in Fort Hood, Texas, by a Muslim officer only adds to the distrust. When an Army officer fires upon and kills his fellow comrades, it calls into question not only the loyalty of the officer, but of the faith as well. I don’t personally know any Muslims; I’m sure I deal with Muslims and don’t know it, but an incident like this causes people like me to wonder about Muslims in general.
I never hear of Muslims turning in or capturing terrorists. I never hear of them turning on hate-spewing clerics or religious leaders. Never. What I do hear is that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and that we have nothing to fear from Islam. Really? Why shouldn’t people who know little of the faith not be fearful? Terrorism by Muslims is nothing new. Ask any Israeli or any one that was stationed in the embassies that were bombed in the 1990’s … or witnesses of the first World Trade Center attack … or the 9/11 attacks … and now at Fort Hood … do they believe there is nothing to fear from Islam? I think you might find that some have a different opinion.
When will Muslin (especially American Muslims) take action against the extremists in their midst? When will they take the lead in removing the threat? They haven’t done a thing in decades... and even less since 9/11. Some will say that they have. Some say that they fear retaliation from the extremists. Others will say it is not Muslims’ responsibility.
The 9/11 terrorists were living among us … moreover they were living and interacting with other Muslins and religious leaders among us. Don’t you think there were just a few of them that were aware of their motives? It is not hard to imagine that they were given aid and support. Major Hasan received aid and direction from somewhere … from someone. These killers have been taught it is acceptable to kill those that believe differently from them. What concerns me most is that this teaching is being fostered in Mosques here in the U.S.
It is no longer acceptable to tell Americans that incidents involving Muslims here at home are simply isolated and not related to Al Queda …. it doesn’t matter whether or not if it is related to global terrorism. There have been foiled attempts in Florida, Buffalo, New York, and Dallas by poorly organized young men … an Army recruiter in Arkansas was killed by a lone Muslim … enough is enough! Now we hear that the FBI had identified Major Hasan as a known threat … by protecting his rights and being overly cautious, good people were killed. What happened to the victims’ rights to life and liberty?
Our government’s first responsibility is to protect us from all enemies - foreign and domestic. They did not protect the victims from domestic enemies in Fort Hood … they did not protect victims from our enemies on 9/11 or countless other times when Americans have been killed by Muslim terrorists (regardless of whether it was by the PLO, Hamas, Hezbala, Al Queda, or a lone attacker).
Islamic terrorism is not our problem … it is a Muslim problem. Peace loving Muslims are all to willing to pass blame onto political, cultural and religious circumstances rather than taking responsibility for the hatred that is encouraged within some of their ranks. The Muslim population is very small in the U.S. There is not a Mosque in every town and neighborhood. I believe that when attacks take place, there are a good many Muslims that are not taken by surprise … their numbers are just not vast enough for me to believe otherwise. Where do they pick up their ideals? Is it from some Muslim evangelist on TV or radio? Is it from you? It’s not from me. It’s imported from their homeland and fostered by their religious leaders.
Americans may complain about government’s failure to insure our security and their inability to “connect the dots” that lead up to terrorist attacks … and they do so justifiably. However, the best way to not be attacked is for Muslims to stop known terrorists and bigoted religious leaders from taking action and spreading their dangerous ideals among believers. By denying them a platform, aid, and comfort, they can help rid us of the menace. It is up to peace loving Muslins to remove the cancer from within their body.
Until peace loving Muslins show that they love all life as their own and turn in (and turn on) the extremist element that lives among them, no one is safe from them … including other Muslims. If there is only a small percentage of extremists within the Muslim faith, then surely there are greater numbers that are able to counter and over-power them. However, there must be a willingness to do so … and that is what I believe is missing.
Some in the media are worrying and warning that there may be a backlash against Muslims in the U.S. because of the killings in Fort Hood (as if a back lash has ever really happened in the past). There has been a concentrated effort, not only by our government but by every day Americans, to avoid any serious back lash. Government (in the form of our political leadership, bureaucrats, and lawyers … not our hard working agents and investigators) has once again failed to keep us safe here at home. But it’s not just the government who has failed … Muslims have failed us as well. It’s time for our efforts to be met with an equal effort by Muslims to end jihad against non-Muslims here and globally. Only when that happens will we then be able to call them our friends and allies in the fight against Islamic terrorism and embrace them as fellow Americans without suspicion.
There you have it.
Pass it on if you like or let me know if don’t have a clue.

The Death Penalty
The Death Penalty
I have always been a supporter of the death penalty. In fact, I have felt that it is has not been used often enough. It has been referred to as “the ultimate punishment for the ultimate crime”, and “killing criminals that kill”, and “an eye for an eye” … it has not seemed unreasonable to me. I have even thought that those who ruin the lives of others should be put to death, i.e., rapists, child abusers, molesters, abductors, arsonists, and thieves. I have recently added those that ruin the financial lives of old people and retirees. There are “buts” coming … but wait. Remember Enron and Bernie Maddoff? … they stole the financial future and security from thousands of people. I’ll bet if you asked some of the people whose lives have been ruined, more than a few would like to see the ultimate punishment used in their cases. I know that will never happen, but there should be a very harsh punishment for them.
What brings this up you ask? Former Texas Governor Mark White said in an interview published in the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News that the death penalty no longer deters murder, that long delays between convictions and executions show there is no swift justice and that he's increasingly concerned the law isn't administered fairly. I agree with him that the law is not administered fairly, but that’s nothing new. The law is not blind and The Golden Rule often comes into play … . you know it … “he who has the gold, rules”. If you have enough money or have a case that is high profile enough, the best lawyers line up to take the case. Some do it for the fee that can be fetched from the criminal (think back to OJ and his Dream Team) and others do it for the potential fees that will come from taking on a high profile case.
Mr. White is wrong about the death penalty being a deterrent. In fact, I’m not sure it has ever been a successful deterrent. I view the death penalty as punishment, pure and simple. Criminal punishment deters very little crime; if it did, there would be no need for jails and prisons. No one would steal, sell drugs, rape, extort, or (quite simply) break the law. Humans are not that nice. Mr. White is right about the death penalty not being administered fairly. How would you feel if you were on death row and you heard about a woman drowning all five of her children and getting away with it due to insanity? I think I’d say that justice was not served and that the death penalty is not fair.
You either have to be rich or crazy to get away with murder or avoid being put to death. When justice is not served, it shows a calloused disregard for the victims who have been killed by the criminally insane. If someone considered criminally insane broke into your house, robbed a bank, shop lifted, or crashed into your car guess what would happen? They’d be expected to pay for the crime or the damage … no one would let them off because they’re insane and therefore can’t be held responsible for their actions.
The times that we do hear of the innocent being unfairly convicted (whether it involves the death penalty or incarceration), is when improper or illegal actions are taken by a District Attorney or Law Enforcement investigators. I recommend reading John Grisham’s book The Innocent Man … it is the only non-fiction book he has written. It gives us a glance at how law enforcement and a willing district attorney can ruin people’s lives. Remember the alleged rape by three Duke University lacrosse team players of an exotic dancer? They were wrongfully accused by District Attorney Mike Nifong. It was found that Mr. Nifong was trying to use the case to advance his political career. Fortunately, that was discovered before he could send the players to prison. The players were eventually acquitted, but not before their reputations (and the reputations of their families) were severely damaged and they were forced to pay the high financial cost of putting up a defense. Even Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton became involved in this case. In the end, the district attorney was disbarred and had to spend one day in jail … how harsh. We have a legal system that requires regulation and over site and perhaps even an overhaul, but not the sentences given to punish criminals. While theses cases did not occur in Texas, we have our share of them that go undiscovered.
Mr. White should be more concerned about keeping innocent people from being wrongfully charged and convicted instead of having the death penalty done away with. If he has changed his mind on the death penalty for personal reasons, he should just say so rather than disguising his concern for innocent people being executed.
I don’t know if the State of Texas has actually executed someone that is innocent. If we have, then restitution should be paid to the families and charges brought against the wrong-doers in law enforcement, the court system, and anyone else that was knowingly involved in the injustice. If mistakes were made causing some innocent person to be executed, we still owe the family restitution and to clear the name of the accused so that they may at least rest in peace.
My mind has not changed. I believe that there are those that should be put to death for their actions … including those that claim insanity (because they, too, have executed the innocent). For those that have been wrongfully executed or incarcerated, the government must pay to make amends … but we must also hold ourselves accountable for electing prosecutors of poor/low morals and integrity, for electing judges that pay little attention to our laws (and even less attention in the courtroom), and for not keeping a watchful eye on law enforcement. It is our job as citizens (and human beings) to protect ourselves from government and to force government to control itself.
There you have it.

Health Care
Health Care
I’ve been thinking about health care. I don’t know anyone who was so worried about health care coverage that it was number one on their list of government objectives. I don’t think that involving government in health care anymore than it already is makes sense or is a good idea. Government health care will not be free. Businesses and individuals will be forced to buy coverage that they either don’t want or can’t afford … requiring them to buy it will not make it any less of a burden on them. We have a government option already in place with the public hospital systems that are supposed to be a safety net for the needy. Health care is expensive and always has been. We do need to control cost, but government has never been successful at that.
I have an idea … why don’t they take over electric distribution? It’s already run by government - the infrastructure is built and it is something that would be hard to mess up.
It is cheaper than health care and when we have power failures they are always fixed. Hospitals have back-up power, so we don’t have to worry about the government leaving them in the dark. Now then, here is what we do … we let the rich, BIG Business and labor unions pay for electrical power for all the rest of us so that we can buy health care coverage. But why stop there? Why not let them pay for all of our utilities? … electricity, water, sewer, telephone and (in this day and age) television and internet service … then we will really save money. I’m sure once the rich are paying for all of that, and they see how well the poor (those making less than $250,000 a year) are doing, they will be motivated to pay for even more things: housing, education, infrastructure, defense, government … after all, they have a never-ending supply of money. Wait a minute! … they don’t have a never ending supply and they already pay for most of those things.
Healthcare is a responsibility and there has been irresponsible activity in healthcare with billing, pricing, and use. When spending money that is not your own, the effects is not felt … but there are still consequences (and run away cost is one of them). The only place government should be involved is to make sure crimes are not committed and that regulations are followed. Government (or I should say politicians and bureaucrats) are not qualified to take over the running of even the insurance component of healthcare. Public pressure and dissatisfaction with the price of health care will be what brings cost back under control … the more government gets involved, the longer it will take to correct. Government-run health care is not about health or care, it’s about control … control of the population and of the industry. Insurance companies, hospitals, and doctors are getting the message to correct health care cost or be run out of business and be put under government control. I can’t believe that they want that.

What are we doing in Afgahnistan
WHAT ARE WE DOING IN AFGHANISTAN?
What are we doing in Afghanistan? Why does our country continue to fight wars with one hand tied behind our back? Why do we try and fight limited wars, when our past experience tells us that limited wars are not successful? By now we should have learned the lessons of Korea, Vietnam, and the 1st Gulf War, that limited war has only delivered us the loss of young American lives and treasure without victory.
Last week eight soldiers were killed in Afghanistan as they were overrun by the enemy … they were simply out-numbered. We’ve asked our military to “do more with less” and still comply with highly restrictive rules of engagement … this has put them and coalition soldiers in a vulnerable position. They have to preserve their lives and provide for their safety, all while worrying about media reaction to their actions and the possibility of facing criminal charges for defending and protecting themselves. For reasons that I don’t understand, General McChrystal’s request for reinforcements has been met with reluctance and indecision by the President.
We have now been fighting in Afghanistan on the cheap for eight years. I’ve been reading the book Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell, a Navy SEAL from Texas. He tells about an operation in which a team of four (that’s right, four) Navy SEALs are sent on that ends up being jeopardized because they are stumbled upon by some unarmed, unsuspecting sheep herders. The SEALs were observing a village for a high profile leader when they were found. Realizing the rules of engagement do not allow the killing of unarmed civilians (even if they are suspected to be the enemy), they made a decision that day that cost three of them their lives because they were devoted to the cause of upholding their honor over preserving their lives. They knew the best military option they had that day was to kill the sheep herders to protect their concealment … but they did not … they let them go. They knew that once word got back that unarmed civilians were killed, the media would vilify them and that they would be charged as murderers. They knew they were not murderers, but they also knew that they left themselves exposed by letting them go. You’ll have to read the book to get the rest of the story, but these four men were sent out to do an impossible mission without a guaranteed plan of extraction and too few men. They were attacked by a group of more than one hundred … maybe just one more SEAL may have spotted the sheep herders before they ever got too close. They fought for their lives valiantly while they were wounded and dying. Mr. Luttrell, by God’s grace, survived and has now told their story.
The day that we started bombing in Afghanistan is still fresh in my mind because it happened on the same day that we celebrated our daughter’s first birthday (October 8th ) … she just turned nine years old. We are still engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan, but now we will not call it a war on terror even though we have our military personnel fighting and dying. I wonder if they still think we are at war. I watched the 60 Minutes interview with General McChrystal and was left bewildered and confused. He spoke about sharing and trusting and not showing an aggressive face to a people whose culture pays close attention to symbolism. He said that we have to show that we trust and respect them. Trust and respect has to be earned by those that have given aid and shelter to a movement that is trying to kill you and me. I am not an expert in foreign affairs or the science of war, but something just does not seem right with me about how we are doing things in Afghanistan.

Asleep at the Wheel
Asleep at the Wheel
I have a feeling that President Obama is asleep at the wheel. Has he forgotten that he is the Chief Executive of our country and not for the entire world? Last week he spent time at the U. N. blaming his country for the world’s troubles for everything from climate change (global warming) to terrorism. He basically accused his country of torture by stating that we would no longer torture. He was praised by dictators and tyrants alike - how nice. The Libyan Dictator even said that he hoped Obama would be our President forever. Hugo Chavez loves him! I don’t know about you, but that troubles me.
It took Obama 10 months to have a meeting with his top military commander in Afghanistan and he has not answered his request for additional troops (I like to call them reinforcements) that he believes are needed to win the war. He drags his feet on the most critical job he has, but flies off to Copenhagen to lobby the Olympic Games to be held in Chicago (in which he was unsuccessful). I don’t believe the Olympic Games are a high propriety for the country (they are not even a high priority for Chicagoans - certainly it is not a job for the President of the United States). Again, asleep at the wheel!
He continues to apologize about America, when no apology is necessary. We have a right to defend ourselves and avenge the attacks of 9-11 by what ever means is at our disposal … but we don’t. We have been even-handed, careful and deliberate, which is why millions have not been killed at the hands of the United States, but have been liberated from tyrants and oppression in Iraq and Afghanistan. “We are the world” to steal a line from Michael Jackson. Not long after 9-11, I met a woman whose husband flies helicopters for Saudi Oil. Her husband said that a Saudi Arabian newspaper described Americans as “people of every race, from every country on every continent, every religion and every ethnic group on earth” … that sounds pretty good to me. Yet Obama apologizes to a body of nations that cannot make the same claim - that is shameful of him. He must wake up and take a stand for the Unites States - his country! The greatest nation the world has ever known.
There you have it.

Progressive Past
Progressive Past
I have a quote for you: “The world is going to change radically, and I am satisfied that governments will have to do many things which are now left to individuals and corporations. I am satisfied, for instance, that the government will have to take over all the great natural resources - all the water power, all the coal mines, all the oil fields, etc. They will have to be government-owned.”
Who said that?
A) Hillary Clinton
B) Barack Obama
C) Bill Clinton
D) None of the above.
If you answered none of the above you’re correct because Woodrow Wilson said it. He also believed that a President must be a philosophical man, capable of thinking in world terms … sound familiar? The current President (and other like-minded politicians) are saying similar things today. I bring this up because President Wilson was a progressive … so was Teddy Roosevelt. The progressive movement of today is not fielding new ideas, they are carrying on the tradition of liberal/progressive elites in power who wish to radically change not only government and business, but our way of life … not just here in the United States, but globally as well.
Their ideas are not new - they are the same old tries at growing government by promising help when the real intent is to control. They believe only a certain like-minded governing class should have controlling power and that the masses really cannot govern themselves. Their power is taken away from them periodically through elections, but they never give up on their (poor) ideology.
Here’s a quote from President Obama’s White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel: “Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before." Now we have a mortgage crisis, health care crisis, Wall Street crisis, economic crisis, employment crisis, and automobile crisis. Which one can we waste? Greed rules here because the White House and Congress are not willing to let any crisis go to waste … it’s an opportunity to do things you couldn’t do before. But what they could not calculate or foresee was that Americans love this country and are not willing to let the “smart ones” fundamentally change it.
Madison wrote in the Federalist Papers, “In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed: and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”
Oblige it to control itself, imagine that.
Today we have a government that is out of control and has lost its way. We must take it back by adhering to the incredible plan laid forth by Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, and the rest. A plan that set us on the path to becoming a great nation and people. We must turn away from the liberal/progressive notion that says we are no longer that great nation of people, but just another member of a global community. The world depends on the United States of America being a country that is strong (economically and militarily) and never changing in our core beliefs or in our founding documents. Ultimately, a strong independent United States is good and necessary for the rest of the world.
There you have it.
Pass it on if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue.

Texans for Hurd
Have you heard of Texans for Hurd
Yesterday afternoon I met a man who seeks to run for U.S. Congress his name is --- Will B. Hurd (that is his real name - not a stage name). He has an impressive resume (go to his website to learn more at www.texansforhurd.com), he’s tall, nice looking, and accomplished. He is easy to approach and has an authentic smile. He worked for the CIA and may know things that, if he told us, he would have to kill us. Kidding. He’s a local kid that has done good. He’s from San Antonio, TX and currently lives in our suburb community of Helotes, which is one of the fastest growing communities in the country. I like him. I liked that when he spoke to us collectively, he did not use prepared text - that tells me he believes in what he is saying and is genuine.
Mr. Hurd is coming into politics at perhaps the best time for a new face. Many of us are paying closer attention to politics than ever before (especially national politics). I told him that people like me are looking for boldness from our politicians. We want them to mean what they say and say what they mean. Just as Ronald Regan said in 1975, “Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pale pastels, but bold colors which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?”
What we don’t want is a new face without ideas. I often tell folks that the problem with Democrats and Republicans is there is not a great deal of difference between them. Most of them have gone to the same schools, they live in the same neighborhoods, and belong to the same organizations. We are not looking for a kinder, gentler Republican or a compassionate conservative. Using those types of words implies that conservative Republicans are not and never have been either gentle or compassionate, when the reverse is true.
Mr. Hurd seems to have what it takes to get started in politics. He is a patriot and he already has a loyal following that know and believe in him. If he can get every Aggie under 40 to vote for him - he’s in. I don’t know him well enough yet, though. I plan to attend a few more events and hopefully get to know him and learn more about him and I encourage others to do the same. So check out his website and page on Facebook (or ask some Aggies about him)!

Racism
Racism
Racism is not a word we should throw around loosely, like jackass, or loser. By throwing it around, we not only diminish the word, but (more importantly) the action … not just when we are debating politics, but in the rest of life. Racism cannot be used as an accusation simply because of disagreements. Racism is defined by history not just the dictionary. Racism brought on U.S slavery, German death camps, and South African apartheid. Racism, to my mind, is a hatred of other races and believing that your race is superior to all others.
Racism fuels the Neo-Nazi and The New Black Panther movements. Remember that the German Nazi Fascism of WWII was a socialist populist progressive movement and the New Black Panther movement supports the Democrat liberal progressive movement of today. Danger lurks with them, not with Americans that don’t agree with the ever expanding growth of our government that this Progressive/Liberal President and Congress are undertaking.
Anyone that believes racism is fueling the protest happening in our country is irresponsible and has chosen to ignore the progress our country has made relating to race. The opposition and protest are not simply about health care, but an ever increasing expansion of government control and power over our population (not to mention a crippling national debt).
My family and much of my extended family and relatives are living proof of the progress we’ve made in the U.S. My wife and I are not of the same race, our children are considered mixed race, and we are the new face of America. I have many cousins whose families would be considered of mixed race and their kids have had kids of mixed race. In our home we do our best to be race neutral - we explain that God makes us all different on the outside but we are all His and we are all the same on the inside … that is how I believe we should look upon each other.
I’ve had to pay more attention at home because my daughter is very perceptive. I used to like to tell racial jokes and poke fun of the different races, but now I’m careful. I don’t want them learning or picking up bad habits from me just as I picked up bad habits from grown ups when I was a kid. I can’t blame my parents because my Mother was a saint and I don’t remember my Dad using a lot of racial jokes. Most of the jokes I picked up are the result of listening to Richard Pryor or on construction sites … but jokes aren’t the problem - actions are.
Discrimination is the issue. We haven’t really addressed that, but I would not limit it to racial discrimination. People are discriminated in a variety of ways - there’s ethnic, religious, and gender discrimination as well as educational, occupational, and class discrimination. People are discriminated against for how they look, smell, and behave or if they are fat, skinny, or ugly. People are discriminated for anything, from the home they live in to the neighbor hood they come from and even for what they drive.
Acceptance is tough - it is what we have to work on. However, not on politics and social issues - we have a right and a duty to stand on principles that matter to us even if they vary strongly from someone else - even if that means we are at odds with the first non-white President of the United States. That doesn’t make you a racist, it shows we have the freedom and liberty guaranteed by the Constitution of these United States to protest our government and them in elected office.

Football Analogy
A Football Analogy
I’ve been a Dallas Cowboys fan all of my life. Most of my memories of the team begin during their hey-day of the 1970’s when the team became “America’s Team”. In a way, the Dallas Cowboys symbolize what is right and wrong with United States of America.
The Cowboys have a tradition of winning. During the ’70’s they won with style and class that made other teams (dare I say, even entire cities) green with envy. Their success earned them respect on the field of play and in business boardrooms. Those teams were great.
In the early ’90’s, things changed with Jerry Jones. The team became a winner again, but with an entirely different ethic. The team took an Al Davis (owner of the Oakland Raiders) ethic of “Just win baby” nothing else matters. In a way it works. The team makes lots of money, more than it ever has … but are they “America’s Team” anymore? Not really. They are not respected and looked at with admiration as they used to be. Respect is earned. What you do matters, how you do it matters, and who you do it with matters. Maybe things will change in the coming decade - we’ll see.
Our country was built upon a foundation of strength, fairness, self determination, freedom, and liberty. That foundation was reinforced with individual accountability. Americans were considered good. We went to church, were fair, brave, honest, hard working, generous, it is this list of superlatives that made us great. Without these attributes, we never could have achieved so much in the short time that we have been a nation. Yes, there is hypocrisy - no people or nation has ever been exempt from it. Yes, we have faults and wrongs have been committed - let those with out sin please step forward.
We are a nation that has become dependant rather than independent. We’ve let our long held beliefs, morals, ethics, honors, and traditions erode. We’ve allowed the privileged class, in combination with the under-privileged class and political liberalism, to ridicule, mock, disregard, and cast away much of what was good in the United States. We live a more leisurely lifestyle then at any other time in history - yet if you were to listen to some, you would never know it. Personal wealth has replaced personal responsibility. Expecting a hand-out has replaced lending a hand in business and at home. “Yes we can” has replaced “yes I can” - the implication being that the Untied States is no longer the land of opportunity and we have to depend on collectiveness to achieve our hopes and dreams. I don’t buy into that thinking and I don’t think most Americans do either.
I look at the Cowboys and hope that some day a new ethic will emerge that more closely resembles the team that I grew up with. I look to our country with the same hope that we will renew our commitment to become “a more perfect union” never satisfied with what is wrong and correcting our shortcomings as a nation and a people and to refocus on those virtues that build great things.
There you have it.

Remember September 11
Another 9/11 is here. Eight years have passed and we are still at war against a movement that is set on killing Americans, for no other reason than because we are Americans. It’s that simple. That is why were attacked. No one country attacked us. We were attacked for social and religious reasons. I think we forget that. We also were attacked because we are a friend and ally to the people and country of Israel. Most of us forget what a prince of our supposed ally, Saudi Arabia, said after delivering a financial aid check to then Mayor Rudy Giuliani; he implied that we had it coming due to our stance in the Middle East. After he found that out, Mr. Giuliani gave the check back.
We are at war primarily with Arab Muslims in Afghanistan where many Arabs have gone to be trained under Osama bin Laden and in Iraq (Al-Qaeda had training camps in Iraq long before the war). We took the war to them there, so that we would not have to fight them here. If you read the 911 Report, you will learn that Al-Queda (and Muslims generally) places a high emphasis on keeping infidels out of Arabian soil. It drives them on to drive us out. However, even if we pulled out of Iraq right now, they would still strive to kill us.
We were not engaged with Al-Queda before 9-11 yet they struck. We are not at war with a nation or group of nations. We are threatened by a global Islamic movement that is intent to subdue or kill non-Muslins (and even Muslins that are not Muslin enough). Prior to 9-11, I hadn’t heard of Al-Qaeda. I’d heard of the PLO, Hamas and Hezbala and I knew that they were dangerous. These Islamic terror networks are set on a global mission. Even if they could remove the U.S. and Israel from the picture, their mission would not be complete. Their intent is to restore an Islamic empire. I keep that thought in mind.
I have watched a beheading and torture video captured in Iraq on the internet. I think all of us should so that we are aware of the nature of the Islamic threat we face. The news media will not describe what Muslin terrorist have done and will do to captured prisoners. The media reports that our protectors are criminals. Torture and kill is their preferred treatment of infidels, and they would do that to you if given a chance. They flew planes into the buildings hoping to kill thousands more than they did. The intent was to have people die the most horrible deaths imaginable, by burning to death or being crushed under the building rubble. Had the planes been flown into the buildings just a little later that morning, there could have been fifty thousand dead at The World Trade Center alone.
So complain about where we have chosen to fight, or how long it has taken, and the military lives we have lost if you wish - I will not. I am grateful to the military personnel and their families for the sacrifices they have made to keep everyday Americans from being killed here at home. I’m flying Old Glory to remember that day. Texans learned that after the fall of the Alamo the battle cry was “Remember the Alamo”. Perhaps our citizen cry should be “Remember September 11”. We have been safe here at home, but for how much longer?
There you have it.

About judges
Regarding Judges
I have a problem with judges. I think we place them in too high of a regard. (I think that way about a lot of professions … but judges hold a special place with me.)
Our country’s founders were honorable and courageous. They pledged their treasure, their reputations, and their lives to found this new nation, but there are some things that they did not get right - and one of those things is lifetime appointments to the bench. I don’t think anyone should be given a life time appointment to govern (and govern is what they do). They govern without accountability, without fear of repercussions, or punishment for wrong actions and mistakes - none of us have a deal like that. I have thought for a long time now that federally appointed judges should have to face re-appointment on a regular basis. They have to earn a vote of confidence before they are put on the bench and they should have to keep that confidence in order to stay.
Last week a State Judge in New Hampshire ruled that a home schooled child had to be enrolled into a public school - not because she wasn’t being well educated, but because she was not receiving group learning and social interaction. Where does the Judge think this kid is - ON MARS? Most parents of home schooled kids are members of church and civic groups. They enroll there children in activates outside the home - little leagues, swimming classes, the arts, and play dates so that the kids get interaction. How many times have we seen home schooled kids win the national spelling bee? They’ve seemed normal enough to me and well-rounded. I have family members that have home schooled their kids. Those kids have grown up, gotten married, have kids of their own and are doing well. Some how they picked up interpersonal learning and social skills (lucky for them a “brainiac” judge never got hold of ‘em).
How many times do we hear of some “honorable judge” letting dangerous felons back onto the streets to rob, hurt, sell drugs, or kill again? How many times have they let a child molester, a child rapist, or a child abductor back into society just to have them finally kill an innocent child? One time would be too many, but we hear of it over and over again.
What do some judges fear? … losing re-election! Cry me a river. Judges make these kinds of decisions because they know they can. It doesn’t cost them anything. They become foolishly arrogant. Now, I know I’m painting with a broad brush here but because of the few, many must pay.
There you have it.
Pass it on if you like or let me know if don’t have a clue.

Obama speaks to school kids
Maybe you have heard that the President is going to broadcast a speech to or school kids next week. A lot of people are up in arms about it. Some are saying that he’s trying to indoctrinate our kids. I say they should have been worried about that a long time ago … the schools have been indoctrinating them for years. Others say that the president should be reaching out to kids and that he has right to do so. I believe that elections have consequences. The Democrats have taken control of Washington and think that they have been given a mandate to fundamentally change the country. I know this because that is what President Obama himself said about the last election.
Now many Americans are learning that Obama and the Democrats meant what they said and they don’t like it. Where is the best place to fundamentally change the country? With our children. Where do most of them spend their day? At school, where Mom and Dad trust them to be taken care of, educated, and nurtured. I don’t think it is outrageous for the President to speak to school kids - it may even be commendable - that is if it were just to encourage kids to study and grow (not to ask kids to ask themselves how they can help the President and pledge him their support). It sounds like what has happened in recent history when radicals take control of government - they groom the children in their image and over time turn them against the hand that has fed them. In America we only have to look back to the 1960’s to understand the change that is taking place.
As I said, elections have consequences and we are paying them. Today there are 40% of us that will follow this new government to a cliff and jump off, another 40% that will never accept the changes that are coming, 10% are wondering what they have done, and the rest just don’t care.

Government Control
Dear Family & Friends,
The last time I sent out an e-mail to you, I warned that we would have to be vigilant toward or new Democrat-controlled government. My biggest fear was that our American culture would be under attack. In another e-mail I said that the Democrat party had far too many socialist and communist tendencies (I should also have included fascist).
We now have a government that, in less than a year, has taken control of banking and investment companies, auto companies, and is headed full-on to taking control of the health care system. But they won’t stop there - there are other targets in their sites.
Some may wonder why there has been such a passionate reaction toward the health care takeover. I wasn’t surprised by the reaction. When the government began the bailouts last year, Americans were concerned but did not feel threatened. We’ve gotten used to the political back and forth on budgets, deficits and national debt and, for the most part, we do not feel effected. It’s not that we are not affected, but we have simply learned to accept it. With healthcare, all Americans - young and old, rich and poor, black and white - all feel threatened. I believe that now enough of us know – Democrat, Republican, liberals, conservatives, and moderates - that there is a movement afoot in Washington to take control and dictate our actions, choices and lives. Where is the best place to begin: HEALTHCARE. Who can argue about providing healthcare to everyone? It sounds wonderful. If you do argue against it you’re called selfish, cruel, and uncaring. Some will even say that you are racist if you do not agree with the President. Never mind that government healthcare just seems un-American. It hasn’t worked well in other countries and yet communist dictators sing the praises of it.
We are being threatened from within by our federal government with subjugation through healthcare. Liberty and freedom are under attack in a way that many Americans feel cannot be stopped. We have a media that will not report honestly about our descent. Members of congress dismiss our concerns as “not a true sampling of the American people”. Many believe that the country will be forever CHANGED. A change that we do not support, that cannot succeed, and will be difficult to correct. Healthcare has helped us to discover the true intention of Democrats in Washington.
There you have it.
Pass it on if you like or let me know if you think I don't have a clue.

The last time I sent out an e-mail to you, I warned that we would have to be vigilant toward or new Democrat-controlled government. My biggest fear was that our American culture would be under attack. In another e-mail I said that the Democrat party had far too many socialist and communist tendencies (I should also have included fascist).
