I haven’t written a blog in a long time, but this week has
brought me to my knees.
A couple of days ago a gunman entered a mall in Oregon and
killed two people. In Michigan, a union
mob attacked defenseless people simply because they had a difference of opinion. I think when things like that happen, it is
because evil has been let out on the loose.
The mass killing of children in Connecticut was an act of
pure evil, there’s no other explanation for it.
Whenever someone goes on a killing spree it’s an act of evil, but when
children are added to the mix, evil doesn’t even begin to adequately describe it.
Americans were horrified with the news of the movie theater
rampage that took place in Colorado this past summer. In an act of evil, a gunman shot and killed
innocent men, women, and children for no apparent reason. I’m sure we will eventually find out what
motivated James Holmes, but I will always be convinced that the main reason he
did it is because he gave in to evil.
On Friday Adam Lanza killed twenty children, his mother,
five adults and himself. Why he did it hasn’t been determined yet, but
I believe that he, too, gave in to evil.
I also believe that the mob attack in Michigan was caused because
a large group of people decided to act as one unit and gave in to evil. I’ve heard it said “that the only way for
evil to triumph, is for good people to stand by and do nothing”. So what can good people do to stop evil deeds
from happening? First we have to admit
that evil exists and that evil has an enemy:
Good. Good triumphs over evil
every time. It’s time for good to be let
loose.
It used to be said that the reason America is great, is
because America is good … “I sought for the greatness
and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers - and it
was not there . . . in her fertile fields and boundless forests and it was not
there . . . in her rich mines and her vast world commerce - and it was not
there . . . in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution - and it was
not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits
flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power.
America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good,
she will cease to be great”…source unknown. Good
does not, cannot, and will not give in to evil…but good doesn’t triumph without
help. Good must first find a home to
work out of, and the best home for it is in the hearts and minds of “We the people”.
There you have it.
Pass it along if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue,
Eddie
