JESUS CARES ABOUT YOUR SOUL..I DON'T

Jesus cares about your soul … I don’t.  I can already hear it:  EDDIE! how can you be so mean?!
I’m not mean, and it isn’t that I don’t actually care. But, I have to care about my own soul and that of my wife and kids before I can even begin to consider yours.  What I’m saying is that it’s up to you to wonder and worry about your soul.   I believe that faith in Jesus saves our souls from hell.  I’d like for you to believe that, too, and so would He … but neither He nor I can force you to into faith in Him.  That isn’t how it works.  It is a personal choice that you have the privilege to make.
I can’t save your soul from hell, only accepting Jesus into your heart can accomplish that.  I’ve made my choice, and would like for every living soul to make that same choice, too.  But I know that millions of people will not.  How do I know this?  Because I’ve see it … and because the bible tells me so.
Some people quite simply don’t believe that Jesus is who Christians say that He is.  Those people are usually from non-Christian religions, but not always … there are people that have left Christianity for one reason or another that no longer believe in Jesus and have rejected Him completely.   Then, of course, there’s the agnostics and atheists that do not believe in God, let alone have a faith in Jesus.
I remember a conversation I had with a nonbeliever.  She claimed to be a spiritual person and that she believed in God, but that Jesus was just a man like me.  She also said that there was neither a heaven nor a hell.  Once in conversation she asked, “why do you condemn me to hell?”   I remember saying that it isn’t me that is condemning her, that she and God that are making that decision.   I also asked her why it bothered her if she doesn’t believe that hell even exists?
I’m not saying that all non-believers are bad people.  In fact, I know a few that I like a whole lot more than some Christians I know.  I pray for them in silence here at home (I just said a little prayer for them right now), that they will at some point in their lives give Jesus a chance or even a second shot.  But if they don’t, I guess they will have some satisfaction in being the nicest person in hell.
If you don’t believe that there is a heaven or a hell, then you don’t need salvation.  As for me, I’m not willing to gamble with my soul or that of my little family’s either.  I find faith in Jesus simple, logical, and comforting.   I also find it rewarding, humbling, and burdening.   Accepting Jesus was an easy choice to make when I was 6yrs old, but following His lead hasn’t been.  I mess up, screw up, give in to sin, and sin again.  But I never give up.   I always come back to Jesus.
There you have it.  Pass it along if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue.

WHO’S NEXT

I live near the city of San Antonio Texas.  Recently the city has been in the news.  Why has it been in the news?  It has made the news because of a secretly taped conversation of a city council member’s staff meeting (by a traitor in the room).  Now I’m not going into the details of the meeting, because that is not what prompted me to write.
The reason I’m here now is because nothing hits home until it hits home.  I’ve lived my whole life in the San Antonio area.  I was born in San Antonio, and now I live in Bexar County (that’s the county the city is in).

I’m sure you’re used to it by now, the vilification and ridicule of conservative politicians by liberals.   It happens all the time.  It even happens within the same political party ... ok, it doesn’t actually happen with Democrats; they cover up for each other no matter what.    And of course, any conservative voice in the media is attacked without end … not just conservative talk show radio hosts, but actors, athletes, CEO’s, and the clergy.   If need be, even simple private citizens may become a target.

If you really want liberals to come after you, just have the nerve to hold a non-liberal position while at the same time being “a person of color” or come from an ethnic, racial, or religious minority.  But the target liberals love best to attack is non-liberal women.  Yes, non-liberal women (especially attractive non-liberal women) are a prized position.  Liberals love hanging non-liberal women’s heads on their trophy wall.    Yes, they display them proudly right there next to their diversity training certificate and anger management ribbons.
Women like Sarah and Bristol Palin, Michele Bachmann, Michelle Malkin, Deneen Borelli, just to name a few, have been targeted for vilification and ridicule simply because they aren’t liberals. So, how does this story hit close to home?  Here’s how … Elisa Chan.
Elisa Chan is a city council representative; it is her staff meeting that was secretly recorded.  In the meeting Mrs. Chan expressed traditional thoughts and feeling regarding sexual orientation and gender identification.  She holds the radical belief that your gender is determined by how you were built, as opposed to how you think you should have been.

On top of that radical point of view she also said that she doesn’t think that homosexuals are born that way naturally.  She’s not alone; a lot of people think so, too.  Personally, I think they’re born that way.  Just like some people are born with birth defects, personality disorders, and/or extraordinary talents and capabilities.

Liberal voices have now used this recording to attack Elisa Chan in a very public way; in doing so they have disguised their true motives and intensions.  They’re actually attacking everyone that disagrees with their view of how things ought to be.   Most people think that gender self-identification is a delusional and preposterous notion.
As far as homosexuality is concerned, attitudes vary.  However, the vast majority of people on earth are heterosexual.  Most of them find same sex sexual relations as unthinkable for themselves … myself included.  They don’t “get it”.  This does not make them bad people, prejudiced, or mean spirited, it makes them normal.  Liberals would have you believe that conventional thought is abnormal.

Elisa Chan has been attacked in a mean spirited and politically prejudicial way, simply because she is a non-liberal woman with a different point of view from theirs. It has been said that her words were hurtful and ignorant.   To some they may have been … but not to others.  I’d say that her attackers’ words have been insulting and arrogant.

We live in a country where freedom of speech, especially religious and political speech, is held as necessary for a free people to have fair governance.  So much so, that the very first amendment to the US Constitution protects it.   Free speech requires free thought; Elisa Chan is not only being attacked for her right to speak but also for her right to think.  The next person could be you.
There you have it. Pass it along if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue.

THE BEMA SEAT

Have you heard about the Bema Seat?   My guess is that you probably haven’t, but that’s only because up until now … I hadn’t.   I have been a Christian my whole life …. yes, my whole life.   Just like a lot of people, I’ve been a Christian inwardly but not outwardly.  I really can’t tell you when it was that I first heard of Jesus.  I know that it had to have been when I was 5 or 6 years old (maybe younger).  But what I do remember, and have talked about this for many years, is that I learned a lot about Jesus from TV when I was very young.
When I was a little kid I used to love to watch TV.   I would even tell my mother that I did not have to go to school because everything I needed to know I could learn from TV (I was wise beyond my years).  I learned about Jesus from watching Sunday morning preachers.  My favorites were Rex Humbard, and Oral Roberts…they’re both dead now, and at home with Jesus and have received their rewards from Him.
I learned about the Bema Seat on a Friday night (February 22, 2013).  I’m still learning about it right now. I watched a movie that night in my Cousin Lonnie’s living room.  Lonnie has been like a second big brother to me.  But more than that Lonnie’s been my Christian mentor.  He still is today.
The Bema Seat is where Jesus will sit when He judges Christians in Heaven.   No he isn’t going to kick anyone out!  But there are rewards he’ll bestow on us based off of how well we served him in life.  Actually those rewards will be based off of how well we allowed Him to work through us.  And on how we allowed Him to use us to reach others, to give them help, hope, comfort, and His salvation.  Why is it that I say … “based on how well we allowed him to work through us” and “allowed Him to use us”?  Because, he does the work for us, through us.  That is if we let him.
I’m not going to tell you all about the movie, or provide you with a bunch of details.  You’ll have to watch it yourself for that, and as I’ve said I’m still learning about it myself. But, I will tell you this … it changed me.  It’s forced me to scrutinize myself.  It’s made me think about how will Jesus tell me I did in life.  It’s made me not only think about myself, but about others.  After all, if all I have to do is let Jesus do his work through me, then I must let him. Not because I want to store up rewards for myself in heaven, it is because I want you to have them.  Just as I know that Rex Humbard and Oral Roberts have received theirs.
There you have it.
Pass it along if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue,
