Have you heard about the Bema Seat? My guess is that you probably haven’t, but
that’s only because up until now … I hadn’t.
I have been a Christian my whole life …. yes, my whole life. Just like a lot of people, I’ve been a
Christian inwardly but not outwardly. I
really can’t tell you when it was that I first heard of Jesus. I know that it had to have been when I was 5
or 6 years old (maybe younger). But what
I do remember, and have talked about this for many years, is that I learned a
lot about Jesus from TV when I was very young.
When I was a little kid I used to love to watch TV. I would even tell my mother that I did not
have to go to school because everything I needed to know I could learn from TV
(I was wise beyond my years). I learned
about Jesus from watching Sunday morning preachers. My favorites were Rex Humbard, and Oral
Roberts…they’re both dead now, and at home with Jesus and have received their
rewards from Him.
I learned about the Bema Seat on a Friday night (February
22, 2013). I’m still learning about it
right now. I watched a movie that night in my Cousin Lonnie’s living room. Lonnie has been like a second big brother to
me. But more than that Lonnie’s been my Christian
mentor. He still is today.
The Bema Seat is where Jesus will sit when He judges
Christians in Heaven. No he isn’t going
to kick anyone out! But there are
rewards he’ll bestow on us based off of how well we served him in life. Actually those rewards will be based off of
how well we allowed Him to work through us.
And on how we allowed Him to use us to reach others, to give them help,
hope, comfort, and His salvation. Why is
it that I say … “based on how well we allowed him to work through us” and “allowed
Him to use us”? Because, he does the
work for us, through us. That is if we let him.
I’m not going to tell you all about the movie, or provide
you with a bunch of details. You’ll have
to watch it yourself for that, and as I’ve said I’m still learning about it
myself. But, I will tell you this … it changed me. It’s forced me to scrutinize myself. It’s made me think about how will Jesus tell
me I did in life. It’s made me not only
think about myself, but about others. After
all, if all I have to do is let Jesus do his work through me, then I must let
him. Not because I want to store up rewards for myself in heaven, it is because
I want you to have them. Just as I know
that Rex Humbard and Oral Roberts have received theirs.
There you have it.
Pass it along if you like or let me know if I don’t have a
clue,
Eddie
