Remember September 11

Another 9/11 is here. Eight years have passed and we are still at war against a movement that is set on killing Americans, for no other reason than because we are Americans. It’s that simple. That is why were attacked. No one country attacked us. We were attacked for social and religious reasons. I think we forget that. We also were attacked because we are a friend and ally to the people and country of Israel. Most of us forget what a prince of our supposed ally, Saudi Arabia, said after delivering a financial aid check to then Mayor Rudy Giuliani; he implied that we had it coming due to our stance in the Middle East. After he found that out, Mr. Giuliani gave the check back.

We are at war primarily with Arab Muslims in Afghanistan where many Arabs have gone to be trained under Osama bin Laden and in Iraq (Al-Qaeda had training camps in Iraq long before the war). We took the war to them there, so that we would not have to fight them here. If you read the 911 Report, you will learn that Al-Queda (and Muslims generally) places a high emphasis on keeping infidels out of Arabian soil. It drives them on to drive us out. However, even if we pulled out of Iraq right now, they would still strive to kill us.

We were not engaged with Al-Queda before 9-11 yet they struck. We are not at war with a nation or group of nations. We are threatened by a global Islamic movement that is intent to subdue or kill non-Muslins (and even Muslins that are not Muslin enough). Prior to 9-11, I hadn’t heard of Al-Qaeda. I’d heard of the PLO, Hamas and Hezbala and I knew that they were dangerous. These Islamic terror networks are set on a global mission. Even if they could remove the U.S. and Israel from the picture, their mission would not be complete. Their intent is to restore an Islamic empire. I keep that thought in mind.

I have watched a beheading and torture video captured in Iraq on the internet. I think all of us should so that we are aware of the nature of the Islamic threat we face. The news media will not describe what Muslin terrorist have done and will do to captured prisoners. The media reports that our protectors are criminals. Torture and kill is their preferred treatment of infidels, and they would do that to you if given a chance. They flew planes into the buildings hoping to kill thousands more than they did. The intent was to have people die the most horrible deaths imaginable, by burning to death or being crushed under the building rubble. Had the planes been flown into the buildings just a little later that morning, there could have been fifty thousand dead at The World Trade Center alone.

So complain about where we have chosen to fight, or how long it has taken, and the military lives we have lost if you wish - I will not. I am grateful to the military personnel and their families for the sacrifices they have made to keep everyday Americans from being killed here at home. I’m flying Old Glory to remember that day. Texans learned that after the fall of the Alamo the battle cry was “Remember the Alamo”. Perhaps our citizen cry should be “Remember September 11”. We have been safe here at home, but for how much longer?
