Navy SEALS Charged for Scaring Terrorist

Have you heard about this? … three U. S. Navy SEALs are being charged with assault for punching a terrorist they captured. If you think I’m joking, guess again. This is chilling. If I were serving in the military today, I would not be looking to re-enlisting. If you’ve read my blog entry “What Are We Doing In Afghanistan”, you will recall the Navy SEALs that were killed because they were aware that the media could make them out to be the bad guys instead of the enemy. That awareness cost them their lives (but not their honor or reputations).

Now we hear that three SEALs are being charged with assaulting the mastermind of the Fallujah bridge atrocity where Americans working for Blackwater security were murdered, burned and hung for display. According to FOX News, the murderer was handed over to Iraqi authorities to whom he made the complaint. This statement from the FOX News story is very telling: “The military is sensitive to charges of detainee abuse highlighted in the Abu Ghraib prison scandal. The Navy charged four SEALs with abuse in 2004 in connection with detainee treatment.” Should we be so sensitive as to care how murdering terrorist are treated? … I don’t think that the terrorist cared about our public opinion when the Americans they captured were murdered, burned, and be-headed.

Do you know what the abuse was at the Abu Ghraib prison? … to put it simply we were mean and scary to terrorist … we didn’t even water board them. I bet you thought maybe we burned, tortured and be-headed them … no we did not. But now, because these SEALs were mean, they are having exactly what the deceased SEALs feared would happen to them … persecution from their own … not from the media in this instance (although it won’t be long until this is the case), but from the military.

What should we expect when we’ve just heard that the investigation of the Fort Hood massacre has been stopped. Why? … I guess it is because the bad guy was one of our own … we killed two birds with one stone. He had to be a bad guy because he was in the American military and a killer … never mind that he is an Islamic terrorist. Why can’t we dig more into it? We are being told to believe the cock-eyed story that he worked alone … I haven’t bought into that.

I believe that hanging our own is unacceptable. Why would any Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airman have confidence in their chain of command or leadership when they hear of acts like this? … it is a treason of sorts. It shows a fear of the enemy and (even though they are not stronger or more courageous than our warriors) that they can still win. Actions like these are perceived as weak and cowardly and causes them to think that they have the upper hand. It gives them a voice that could not be obtained on their own. They can say, “look at the Americans, even their leaders know that they are criminals”.

I am no expert on military or international relations (and in all honesty I don’t care what Islamic extremist think of our treatment of detainees). I believe that we should do things that make sense to the American people, as well as the parents, spouses, and children of our military personnel. We should show that we support our men and women in uniform and that we stand by them above all others … not just on the field of battle, but in the media and in the courts. Our warriors should feel safe from their command leadership and on their bases. We should not stand to let these three SEALs to be made a politically correct example. They should never again be left in danger due to political correctness, whether it’s from a soldier turned traitor on base or from their command leadership. Charging the SEALs will unleash a dangerous ripple effect through out the military. It will cause our soldiers to hesitate and second guess themselves just … as the SEALs that were ambushed in Afghanistan did (now they are dead).

There you have it.
Pass it on if you like or let me know if I don’t have a clue.

Eddie
